The Journey of a lifetime – Part 1
Where should we start? Here and now! Europe and the South Pole, far away and a journey in itself to get there. Since we are leaving from Belgium, we need at least 3 flights. Departure from Brussels on a rainy Thursday to one of Europe's biggest long haul hubs, Frankfurt. Short flight, some nice German "Würst" and some last conversations with family, friends & colleagues.
From Frankfurt to Buenos Aires, our gateway to South America, where this amazing experience is sure to kick off. A short discovery of the Paris of South America with of course a taste of the world famous Argentine beef. I was not joking when I said that Buenos Aires was just the gateway. Our next flight left 24 hours after arriving in this vibrant city. Destination: Ushuaia, Tiera Del Fuego. Some might say that the adventure only begins here, but I personally disagree. It started when we closed the door behind us at home.
Expedition with Hapag-Lloyd Cruises
The vastness of Patagonia puts life and discoveries into perspective. We are lucky, to say the least. Not only because we can make the trip of a lifetime, but also that in Hapag-Lloyd Cruises we have a partner to make this dream come true. We boarded one of the three Expedition cruise ships of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, the HANSEATIC Inspiration. Experience and exploration are the focus of this voyage
The "easiest" way to reach the South Pole is from the southern tip of Argentina. Ushuaia, a large village with more than 70,000 inhabitants. In the port of Ushuaia, several ships are waiting for their passengers to take them on a journey of a lifetime. The HANSEATIC Inspiration is an extraordinary expedition ship that sails the Seven Seas in style and luxury, joining forces with a PC6 (Polar Category 6) icebreaker to go further than any other (tourist exploration) ship.
What is so great about travelling with Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is not only the cuisine, the luxury of the ship and the great staff. It's also all the information in the form of lectures, talks, libraries, research centres and knowledge on board. Travelling to the other side of the world and discovering it with all your senses. At the same time, receiving precious, valuable insights and knowledge from scientists, explorers and professors.
